Australian University Education

Australia has a well established education system which is affordable, practical and industry-specific, making it highly regarded around the world. There are many universities to choose from in capital cities, smaller towns and regional areas – some have a specific subject focus, others are broader in their course selections. Some of the general subject areas include – engineering, art, design, nursing, medicine, law, science, mathematics, English, teaching, languages, geography, international relations, social science and many more.

There are two levels of university study in Australia – undergraduate and postgraduate. Undergraduate refers to a first degree, commonly known as a bachelor, which is sometimes followed by further, more specific postgraduate study – incorporating graduate certificates, graduate diplomas, masters and doctorates. These may be by coursework or by research, depending on the individual course and institute.

Australian universities are very welcoming to international students, with programs and departments in place designed to make your arrival and transition into the Australian system as smooth as possible. Units already gained through the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) are recognised in Australia and can contribute to a new or continuing course of study.
