Location

Swinburne’s main campus is located in Melbourne, the cosmopolitan capital of Victoria, and there are other campuses in Melbourne and Victoria and a campus in Sarawak, Malaysia. The diverse environments of each campus provide a variety of learning experiences for students, from bustling urban settings to leafy, relaxed spaces.


Campuses

Croydon campus is located near the Dandenong mountains, a bus, train or drive away from Melbourne city, and hosts TAFE courses in health, computing and human services. There are on campus student clubs, Swinburne’s Centre for Health and Wellbeing, and conference facilities.

Hawthorn campus is the original campus and is located 7 km form Melbourne CBD, a short train or tram ride away. This campus hosts research and training facilities, tertiary and TAFE courses, the Centre for New Manufacturing, student accommodation, library and bookshop, and the National Centre for Sustainability.

Healesville campus is a small facility offering short courses, conference spaces, workshops and seminars and personal interest courses.

Lilydale campus is set on 24 hectares in a rural wine and tourism location overlooking Lilydale Lake and the Yarra Valley hills about an hour’s drive form Melbourne. This campus hosts tertiary and TAFE courses, student accommodation and counselling, and offers flexible delivery of courses.

Prahran campus hosts the National Institute of Circus Arts, the Design Faculty, tertiary and TAFE courses, the Centre for Collaborative Business Innovation, and Mecanix Training Restaurant.

Wantirna campus offers courses in the arts, automotive industries and horticulture. TAFE diploma and certificate courses and apprenticeships are offered and the campus is the centre for the University’s TAFE administration.


Courses

Swinburne University offers courses in Arts, Psychology and Social Science, Business, Commerce and Management, Design and Film & Television, Engineering and Technology, Health and Community Services, Hospitality, Tourism and Event Management, Information and Communication Technologies, Multimedia, Science, Visual, Performing and Circus Arts.


English Courses

English language courses are offered at the Hawthorne and Prahran campuses and include General English and English for Academic Purposes, as well as English language intensives.


Entry Requirements

Undergraduate entry generally requires an IELTS of 6.0 overall with no band less than 6.0, as well as successful completion of the recognised equivalent of Australian Year 12 High School, unless entering via on of the University’s academic pathways.

Postgraduate admission generally requires an IELTS of 6.0, 6.5. or 7.0, with no band less than 6.0 or 6.5, depending on the course chosen. Academically, admission generally requires the successful completion of the equivalent of an Australian Bachelor degree.

Enrolment dates

There is no application deadline, but students are advised to submit their applications well in advance of the date when they wish to commence study to allow time for processing of applications. An AA Education Network counsellor can help you with times and dates.


Student activities

There are many on campus activities including sporting competitions, conversation clubs, and social and recreational activities organised for students. Students also often organise their own informal social and recreational activities.
