Overview

Murdoch took in its first 510 students in 1975 and has since grown to an enrolment of 17,000 students, of whom 3,000 are international enrolments. The University’s main campus in Perth is the largest university campus in Australia, and it houses a large range of services and facilities just minutes from the centre of Perth.

Murdoch aims to encourage the development of creative, independent graduates through its well recognised academic and research programmes with a view to making a difference in the global community.

Location

With three campuses in Western Australia and Learning Centres in Singapore, Dubai and Tokyo, Murdoch’s experience of international education is truly international.

Campuses

South Street campus is the main campus just a short trip from the Perth CBD. Set in 227 hectares of bushland, facilities include computing labs and wireless network, moot court, veterinary hospital and farm, engineering plant, chiropractic clinic, media facilities, and on campus accommodation.

Rockingham campus is located within the Peel region and offers courses from TAFE certificate level up to research degrees, with close connections to business, community and industry.

Peel campus is closely linked with Rockingham campus and specialises in Nursing, with two clinical demonstration wards and state of the art teaching resources and facilities.

Courses

The University offers students courses in Biological Sciences and Biotechnology, Business, Chemical and Mathematical Sciences, Chiropractic and Sports Science, Education, Engineering and Energy, Environmental Science, Information Technology, Law, Media, Communication and Culture, Nursing and Midwifery, Psychology, Social Sciences and Humanities, Sustainability, and Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences.

English Courses

Murdoch Language Institute, at the South Street campus, offers General English, English For Academic Purposes, and Preparation for Secondary Studies.

Entry Requirements

Undergraduate admission generally requires English to the level of IELTS 6.0 overall with no band less than 6.0 and academic level up to the successful completion of the recognised equivalent of Australian Year 12 High School.

Postgraduate admission generally requires an IELTS of 6.0 for coursework and 6.5 for research degrees, with no band less than 6.0 in ether case, and academic level up to the successful completion of the recognised equivalent of a Bachelor degree.

• Semester 2: commences in July

The Student Guild hosts a range of on campus student clubs and organised social and recreational activities. Students often also arrange their own spontaneous and informal activities among themselves.
