Overview
Macquarie University is one of Australia’s top universities and rated highly in the Asia Pacific region. The university has a truly international focus with around 30% of its students from overseas in 2008.

Location
Macquarie University is located in north west Sydney, the capital of the state of New South Wales, just 30 minutes drive from the Sydney CBD.
Campus
Macquarie City campus is set in 135 hectares of parkland, adjacent a high technology precinct, and the campus itself hosts Australia’s only on campus privately-funded research centre.
On campus facilities include on and off campus accommodation, student health and counselling services (including a private hospital), sporting and aquatic centre, food and banking facilities, a large well-resourced library, and playing fields.

Macquarie University offers courses in the following subject areas: Business, Commerce, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Computing, Engineering and Technology, Education, Humanities, Law, Medical, Health, Speech and Hearing and Chiropractic Studies, Psychology and Linguistics, Sciences (including Environmental Sciences and Museum Studies), and Society, Culture, Media and Philosophy.
English Courses
The Centre for Macquarie English is on campus and offers General English, Academic English and Study Tour Programs. CME also offers IELTS Master and IELTS Express on line to students anywhere in the world.
Entry Requirements

English language requirements for admission to both undergraduate and postgraduate coursework studies are an IELTS of 6.5 overall with no band less than 6.0.
Enrolment dates
- Semester 1: commences February
- Semester 2: commences July
Students are advised to apply well in advance in order to allow time for processing enrolment and visa applications.
Student activities
International students are provided with a student buddy to help them get settled in university life and study in Sydney. There are also orientation activities, day trips, and a social club for international students.
