As a condition of holding your student visa, you are required to purchase Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) before arriving in Australia, and to maintain it for the duration of your stay. This policy will help subsidise any medical, hospital, prescription medicine or ambulance services you may require whilst living in Australia.  Your institution will be able to provide you with contact details of the OSHC providers you can choose from.

Your OSHC policy will only cover basic medical services, and does not included services such as dentistry or optometry.  Insurance for such services may be offered by your OSHC provider at an additional premium, or through other private healthcare providers.
