Overview

Edith Cowan University began life in 1902 as a teacher training college and has grown to become the second-largest university in Western Australia, with students from over 30 countries enrolled to study one of the more than 300 degree courses it offers.

Location

Campuses

Joondalup campus is a purpose built state of the art teaching and learning facility connected to Perth CBD by fast rail and freeway. It is co-located with the West Coast TAFE and the Western Australian Police Academy. Facilities include student accommodation, recreation centre and outdoor cinema.

Mt Lawley campus is only minutes from Perth CBD and its facilities include modern teaching and learning spaces, student accommodation, gym and sports centre and the Western Australian Academy of the Performing Arts.

South West Campus (Bunbury) is located 2 hours by road south of Perth. Its facilities include student accommodation, state of the art teaching and learning facilities, and the campus is co-located with the South West Regional TAFE, St John of God Hospital and South West Area Health Service.


Courses

Edith Cowan University offers degrees through the following four faculties: Business and Law; Computing, Health and Science; Education and Arts, and Regional Professional Studies. English Courses

English language courses are taught at Perth Institute of Business and Technology, located at the Mt Lawley campus. Courses include General English, Academic English, University Pathway Programs, IELTS Preparation Course and IELTS Workshops.


Entry Requirements

Admission to Edith Cowan generally requires the successful completion of the equivalent of Australian Year 12 High School and an IELTS of 6.0 overall with no band less than 6.0. Enrolment dates

Semester 1 (February): applications need to be submitted by 30 November the previous year.
Semester 2 (July): applications need to be submitted by 31 May the same year.


Student activities

There are on-campus student clubs and associations, while the Student Guild also organises various social and recreational activities throughout the year. There are also sporting and gym facilities available for students. Students also often organise their own informal spontaneous social and recreational activities.
